On to Adderall XR

The ped definitely felt that Alex had a reaction to the ritalin, so now we're trying adderol. On Saturday so we can watch him. Will be either a great day or suck horribly.

We had a nice Christmas. Alex loved his TMX elmo and Woody dolls. He also enjoyed playing with Uncle Mark's dog, Pinnie (who was full of energy and ready to play!). Nice day all and all.

Tomorrow is dad's biopsy. I think we're all a bit nervous. Prayers for a good outcome is all I can ask at this point.

Rough day on Ritalin

We gave Alex his first dose of Ritalin. It did not go well. He threw up then proceeded to cry from noon until 8:30pm!! I would take the ADHD over this any day!

So we need to call the ped and find out what the next step is. Do we try it again? Try something else?

Make A Wish called yesterday. Our counselors are coming January 2nd to ask Alex what his wish is! We're so excited. Definitely bittersweet.

Merry Christmas to all!! Ok "all" is pretty much Cynthia!!! LOL

Can kids hear underwear being removed?

Honestly. My kid has a radar for when mommy and daddy are trying to get their freak on!!! I don't wear fancy undies that have bells and whistles that might alert the child, just plain ole Hanes Her Way - granny panties. What gives? We swear he is sound asleep and not 30 seconds into the first kiss.... guess who's diving into bed with us?

Date Night!

Jenny's coming over tonight to babysit for us, so we can have a night out! We're going to the Upstream, a nice brewery/restaurant. I'd like to go to the one downtown, the Old Market is all decorated with lights etc. I know I won't get hubby to do that, so we'll settle for the one out West here. Maybe do a little shopping after.

Not much else to report. Just a typical weekend of laundry and watching TV!

The Hyperactive Kid

Alex was diagnosed with ADHD yesterday. Doesn't come as much of a shock. His behavior of late has been atrocious. First step is to get him on meds. Our ped is out of the office until Monday, so we'll talk to her then and get going. I think it will really help him. Then it's behavior modification classes for all three of us! Won't that be fun?

Christmas is just around the corner. Almost done with shopping. Just a few odds and ends and I can call it good.

Jenny is suppose to come babysit Sunday evening, so we can have a night out! Hopefully she'll show up. One never knows.

That's it. Pretty boring and lacks any kind of effort doesn't it? Sorry. Alex and I have been sick and I'm just now starting to feel human again. Maybe I can come up with something for the weekend!

A Fish Only a Mother Could Love

Proud Momma moments only come once in a great while. When you least expect it. I got one this morning when I turned the news on.

(you may need to copy and paste the link, had a heckuva time with inserting it!)

No my son isn't playing hockey nor scoring any goals... He's the Fishman. Yes my son is the one tossing the frozen flounder out onto the ice. What 4 1/2 years of college tuition won't get you! I can rest my head on my pillow tonight, knowing my son has a secure future.

Now if I could only find Jenny something to do!!!

CHEESECAKE FACTORY ROCKS!

Went to lunch today with my girlfriend Lisa. Guess where we went? Go ahead... guess. Now how did you know????

It was awesome. We got the Toblerone Swiss Chocolate Cheesecake for dessert. To die for! The restaurant is only a few weeks old here in Omaha and it's all the rage. I have never seen so many women in Furs!!! What is up with that? It was 51 out today, no need for a fur!

Not much else to report. I wish I had mushy, sentimental things to write, but I don't. That's ok though, only Cynthia is reading this anyhow!! LOL

First Sunday of December

Where did October and November go? One day it's all fall yet still nice and warm, next day it's 9 degrees out and snowing? What is up with that?

No lice. Thank God! I guess the infected child never made it to daycare that day, but was there the day before, so daycare was trying to be proactive. No else got it. YICKY YICKY POO!

The $100 sliver is still in there. No signs of coming out. I just know we're on our way to a $500 sliver.....

On a somber note, my dad went to see an urologist this week. He has a spot on his bladder and the cyst on his kidney. They are very concerned about the bladder. They are doing a biopsy on the 29th. I am a bit irritated that they aren't going in sooner, but that's my folks for ya.

I'm going Christmas shopping for a bit today and then groceries. What a big day huh? I bet you wish you lived my life!!!! Maybe I'll go without underwear, seems to be all the rage!!! Though I highly doubt the paparazzi will be any where near....

Have a good one!

Hump Day

No this is not a post about my sex life!!! ROTFL Just another Wednesday.

The weather decided to shift on us. It was 64 yesterday at noon and by 3:00pm it had dropped to 40. Today it was 21 all day long. Didn't move either way. And wind!!! Holy Cow!

We got a note home yesterday that a kid at daycare has lice. Wonderful.
After Steve and I got done itching and scratching, we checked the boy. So far nit free!!! Let's keep it that way. All I want for Christmas is Head Lice... not as catchy a tune.

The sliver saga continues. Still in there, not moving much. I guess a $100 sliver can do whatever it wants too, just like Paris Hilton.

Not much else to report. But that's ok, cause nobody reads this anyhow!! LOL

Enjoy!

The Day After

Is everyone suffering from turkey hangover? or perhaps punkin pie?

Are you out shopping the early bird specials? I wish I could, but I have Monkey Butt with me today, no sense in even attempting an outing..... unless it's the drive thru at Mickie Dee's!

My dad looked pretty good. He was up and moving around, but I think he could start doing more. The weather was gorgeous! Record setting high yesterday. Felt more like 4th of July than Thanksgiving! ha. In Nebraska in November... we'll take anything above 32 degrees!

Off to do laundry, put away the few fall decoratins and maybe hit a few Christmas decorations. Or just sit on my butt, watching Oprah and eating bon bons!

Happy Turkey Day

Sorry I haven't posted much, not much to say really! Plus the kitties chewed thru my network cable, so had to replace that. I'm sure we're going to come home one day to fried kitties!

Headed to Grandma's today. Alex is excited to see them again. Dad is up and moving which is good. Anxious to see how he's really doing. What you get over the phone isn't necessarily the "rest of the story."

Weather is gorgeous, who could ask for anything more? Ok I could ask that all my Christmas shopping be done... but that's about it! LOL

Have a safe and happy holiday. Why does turkey on the other 364 days not taste as good as it does today? Things to ponder!

Sorry Folks

It's been a long, boring week. I'm kinda crabby and don't feel much like being on the computer. Plus I have to work tonight at midnight... which totally sucks. Don't know how long we'll be on either, hopefully not more than 2 hours. I HOPE!

My dad is doing better finally. Guess it was a pinched nerve. He was in bad shape for a while. He also has something on his kidney but what we don't know. He sees the kidney doctor next. Hopefully it's a simple cyst.

Alex is being a horse's butt lately. Can't wait for the behavior team to get back with us. We all need it!!!!
Well I'm off the computer. Since I gotta pull a late nighter! Maybe I'll be all sunshine and happiness tomorrow! ha

Cancer Research

So I did some cancer research for Hodgkin's disease and it seems to have a high cure rate. That's good news. Still no word on how much it's spread. I guess he's got testing the rest of the week.

My dad is in pretty bad shape too. He has a cyst on his kidney and lots of back pain. Now he has horrible pain shooting down his leg. He can't even walk. I am trying to convince my mom to take him to the hospital, but so far no go. So I guess they'll wait until he's so bad, they have to call an ambulance. Not sure what's going on, but he is a cardiac patient, so I am worried about blood clots. All I can do is sit and wait for the phone call. Parents! Sometimes they're worse than kids!

Alex cracked me in the mouth with his big ole hard head tonight. I think he loosened a tooth. I see the dentist Thursday anyhow... good thing.
I haven't updated on the kitties in a while. McKinley's paw has finally healed. She still pulls it up when she sits, but she's out playing and being a general pain in the butt. Archie loves to sit in front of my computer screen, he makes a very poor window. He loves attention. They're getting big.
That's about it for now. I'm exhausted. I put in 9 hours at work today, with a sore throat and headache. Yup Alex has it too. He's been going to school, but I know he feels crummy like I do. C'est La Vie!

I just found out my cousin has cancer

I was sure hoping and praying the tumor they found was benign. It's not. It's Hodgkins Lymphoma. They're doing some more testing to determine if the cancer has spread and they'll be starting chemo very soon. The tumor is inoperable, due to it's proximity to his thorax.

I hate cancer. It seems to strike the most undeserving of people.

Life has not been easy nor fair to Matt, from his premature birth on. Looks like life is throwing him another curve ball. If any of you could spare a prayer tonight, I know he'd appreciate it. I do too.

I am sooo ticked off right now

I was planning on having my family Christmas at our house again this year. We have the most room to accomodate everyone. I even get the Friday before off as a paid holiday!

I sent out an email this morning, saying we'll be having Christmas here blah blah. So my mom emails me back and says my brothers want it at her house so they can go hunting and it'd be easier for them. I'm pretty sure it's the work of my one sister-in-law, who has to have control of everything. First I had to trade names with her (we draw names) because she really wanted my mom's name, so I gave in. Now this. I'm pretty sure she's jealous we have a nice new big house and they live in a small old one.

I am really hurt and angry. Of course they put my mom in the middle of it all, so she takes the heat. Of course how do I say anything without looking like a petulant 12 yr old?

I am seriously considering calling down on Christmas Eve and telling them Alex is sick and we won't make it. Screw it. Bah Humbug!

A New Attempt at Blogging

I was blogging using Yahoo 360, but only 2 people ever read it. I'm not sure most of you would be interested anyhow.....but here it goes. You can log on when you want too!

Ya'll know me, so I don't need to go into that! ha. Mostly you will read about Alex because he always has the most drama!

We had Alex's behaviorial eval on Thursday. Alex performed nicely (is that an oxymoron?). He did his growling, ignoring us and some self stim behaviors. He even managed to have a blow out pull up, in which mommy and daddy had NOTHING with them.... so had to borrow clothes from the clinic! (the kid even pooped on his shoes!).So now we fill out a bunch of forms, the teacher fills out a bunch of forms and this guy (who is the chair of the dept) will give Alex's case to whom he feels will best meet Alex's needs. He mention medication as an option. He told us we are doing the right thing and addressing this now because it's only going to progress. It was kind of frightening when he said "I noticed he doesn't look at you when you ask him to do something" Of course Autism comes to mind. Guess we'll see as we go along! He also said he feels that Alex will never have much for speech. Very disheartening, because he's really very smart he just can't express it.

Above is a pic of Halloween. The cowboy quickly shed his pony though! We didn't like the straps! It was a cold night, but clear and calm. Alex enjoyed ringing the doorbell and also entering a house if a dog was present! ha. Jenny mostly complained about walking and the cold!
