I am mom to three kids. Matt (22) graduating from college in December, Jenny (19) who is currently attending a community college and Alex (5) who will start kindergarten this year. How does one manage to have one graduating college and one just starting kindergaren? Oh the wonders of a second marriage... wink wink nudge nudge. The oldest two are out on their own now, making their way in the big world.
Today is a quiet, boring, sleepy kind of day. It's rainy, cloudy and cool. It's nice to have the windows open after several weeks of above 90 temps. I need a nap. That's what one does on a day like today, nap. Specially when that someone is a 43 yr old mother of a very active, non sleeping 5 yr old. But alas, if I do nap I will wake up to a wall painting made entirely of poo. Yes poo. Alex isn't necessarily your typical 5 yr old and he keeps us hopping.
Alex has Down Syndrome. He is a funny, silly, loving, medically challenging little boy. He has his daddy's stubbornness and his mommy's love of chocolate. He can't say his ABC's or count to 10, but he can unlock the front door in 3 seconds flat and run! We've tried to teach him please, thank you, I love you, mommy and daddy with little success, but the word "poop" is loud and clear. In a crowded shopping mall, he can pick out the one person who needs a hug and deliver that hug without warning to any of us. We would love to climb into his head for just one day and see the world as he does.
I think I'm getting the hang of this blogging gig. We'll see I guess.....
Happy Easter!

Rhonda... I'm so glad that you're giving this blogging thing a try. I look forward to reading your updates and thoughts :).
Hey I just went to your site from here and I love the pictures you have of Alex in the pool :). Looks like loads of fun. You have a huge backyard and I want a big cement pad like you have. The people who lived here before me put in those stupid square slabs of cement and the the ants and weeds come through the middle all the time - not to mention how slanted they all are. I'm hoping next year to put in a cement pad though :).
